Your furniture, clothes, contents and other personal items are covered if they are stolen or destroyed by fire, windstorms, burst pipes, or other insured perils.
Loss of Use/Additional Living Expenses
This coverage pays you for the additional costs of living away from your apartment due to damage from a fire, storm or other insured peril. It covers hotel bills, restaurant meals and other living expenses incurred while the apartment is being rebuilt.
Comprehensive Family Liability Coverage
Provides coverage for you against lawsuits for both bodily injury or property damage that either you or any of your family members cause to a third party. It also pays for damages caused by your household pets. The liability portion of your policy pays for both the cost of defending you in court and any court awards up to the limit of your insurance policy. You are also covered not just in your apartment, but anywhere in the country.
Medical Payments
In the event a person is injured in your apartment, he or she can submit medical bills to your insurance company. By doing so, the expenses can be paid without any liability claim being filed against you. Limits are generally $1,000 to $5,000, and it does not pay the medical bills for your family members.
